What is a Yumejoshi / 夢女子 Lit. Dream(ing) Girl ?
The history of the term "Yumejoshi"
Information from here!
The term Yumejoshi comes from dream novels, which were popular in the 2000s.
In the 2000s, cell phone novels were very popular; they were created on websites with simple HTML that could be accessed on a phone, many of these books gained a lot of attention. Dream novels (Yume shousetsu) were made while cell phone novels were still popular. Y/N fiction, both original and fan, were dominant in dream books. Some would be on websites that used JavaScript to allow you to change your name, while nameless stories would not disclose the heroine's name at all. Although some of the stories featured men, the demographics for these stories were predominantly female. The heroine was coupled with the story's character's. Dreamers/yumejoshi were the name given to readers of these stories. This is one of the reasons why fans who self-insert themselves into series couplings are nicknamed that, but the term yumejoshi/dreamer was originally used to apply to those who read Y/N novels in general.
